Those terrorists holding a gun to our head need to pay their fair share so that we can invest in bridges and infrastructure or something (UPDATED)

(please scroll down for the update)

Here's some more of that "new civility" we've been hearing so much about.

Vice President Joe Biden joined House Democrats in lashing tea party Republicans Monday, accusing them of having “acted like terrorists” in the fight over raising the nation’s debt limit.

Biden was agreeing with a line of argument made by Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pa.) at a two-hour, closed-door Democratic Caucus meeting.

“We have negotiated with terrorists,” an angry Doyle said, according to sources in the room. “This small group of terrorists have made it impossible to spend any money.”

Biden, driven by his Democratic allies’ misgivings about the debt-limit deal, responded: “They have acted like terrorists,” according to several sources in the room.

Biden’s office declined to comment about what the vice president said inside the closed-door session.

Earlier in the day, Biden told Senate Democrats that Republican leaders have “guns to their heads” in trying to negotiate deals.

Cry us a river, chumps. They know full well they've kicked this can down the road for so long now, it's sudddenly an emergency but one where the onus of legislating in haste is put upon the Republicans. Again, the Senate hasn't passed or even produced a budget in nearly 2-1/2 years (quite possibly because Senate leadership has its head planted so far up its ass, it didn't realize they only needed 51 votes to pass a budget) and the President's own budget got shellacked by this same Senate 0-97 back in March and since that time, he hasn't produced jack squat with respect to anything resembling a serious attempt to deal with the debt ceiling.

But what really irks us is the complete lack of originality employed here. They've been on the "terrorist/holding a gun to our head" kick for weeks now. Like their "(the rich should) pay their fair share" mantra, invoking images of jihadists flying jets into skyscrapers or lopping the heads off innocent civilians is getting rather tedious.

We'd implore them to up their game with some encouragement like, "C'mon, guys, we know you can come up with something a little bit more creative" but it's Biden we're talking about so we are left with two chances of that happening: slim and none. And slim just left town.

(UPDATE #1): The Sundries Shack has a nice round-up of all the "new civility" that was flying around during Barack's completely manufactured nothing-matters-but-my-relection-bid debt-ceiling three-ring circus and panic attack, here and while you are at it, they encourage you to remember the last time the liberal-Left was in full throat branding the tea party as hyper-violent extremists because absolutely nothing happened today that would remind you of that .

hasn't this administration negotiated with actual terrorists, or at least other regimes that actively support terrorism? where's the outcry? o yeah, actual terrorists will fight back.

to label the tea partiers as "terrorists" is just pitiful. they've been labled racists, ignorant, nazis, hobbits (nazi-hobbits?), and now terrorists.

which makes me think the tea party might be onto something...

There is indeed an inherent intrinsic value to pissing off the right people.

What Palin said was funny... if the Tea Party really are terrorists why hasn't Obama tried to make peace with them?
