We have shamelessly swiped from KT a video clip from a recent Bill Maher episode where he, Maxine Waters (D-CA), Tina Brown and another unidentified lady are talking about the national debt and what to do about it.
Teaser: Admissions from the liberal-Left that we are actually in debt is readily acknowledged when the source of income from which we are to remove ourselves from that debt are targeted identified.
Gotta love how Maxine Waters eyes light up with that insane glee when Maher starts in on the evil rich.
And no mention whatsoever from Maher as to the biggest corporatist President of them all who currently resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
With respect to Maher's thinly-veiled threat of taking money from the rich if they do not create jobs, precisely what is it about the economic climate today that is conducive to jobs creation? And regarding Brown's psycho-babble on "ethical culture", under what moral obligation are the evil rich that they should be compelled to do anything with their money? It's theirs is it not? Not if you have an ear towards this pack of jackals, apparently.
Back to Maher: How does Maher propose to get at this idled money? It gets taxed once it gets active and creates jobs and now Maher wants to confiscate it when it's inactive as well. Now, there's a business model favorable to creating jobs and getting the economy rolling.
And someone please ask Tina Brown for an operational definition of "doing good stuff" in the context of rich people's money.
As ol' Maxine advises at the end of this clip to wild applause, it's all about blame-shifting away from the current ruinous regulatory regime and cheerleading for mindless class warfare thuggery. Glittering jewels of colossal ignorance... every last damn one of them.

Tales from Bailout Nation Pt. XXIV... and quote of the day
"we encountered more difficulty and delay. Fannie's lobbyists were on the Hill spreading misinformation about my motives and asserting that the special exam was unnecessary."
That from Armando Falcon, a former regulator at the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO), the GSE watchdog who was testifying before the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission regarding Fannie Mae. Falcon further testified that whenever faced with a report with negative connotations about the company, Fannie's supporters would launch an assault on OFHEO -- from a full investigation of the group to demanding Falcon's resignation.
Now, they wouldn't have done such a thing now would they? And why does that name, Armando Falcon, ring a bell? Why, yes. Why, yes, indeed. Falcon was made an absolute whipping boy back in 2004 during congressional testimony when he testified to Fannie Mae's illegal accounting practices.
From the interweb archives, one of our favorite videos of all-time: for your viewing and keeping-the-record-straight pleasure, it's Lacy Clay (D-MO) throwing out racially-charged grenades and Maxine Waters extolling the virtues of zero down loans and the total awesomeness of Franklin Raines.
Exit question: How is it that Franklin Raines is walking around a free man, right now?

Maxine Waters on anger management
Nice little take-down of Maxine Waters (D-CA) whose views of the 1st amendment would appear to be relative depending upon whom is exercising the rights contained therein.
(language warning)
"...waving the American flag... outrageous behavior"
And Waters was less than apologetic with respect to the 1992 South-Central riots that occurred in the wake of the Rodney King not-guilty verdict, much of which took place in Waters' congressional district.
The anger that you see expressed out there in Los Angeles, in my district this evening, is a righteous anger, and it's difficult for me to say to the people, "Don't be angry." When people are angry and enraged, they do do senseless things, they do act even sometimes out of character, and that's why it is the responsibility of America to try and avoid putting people in these kinds of situations.
See? It's the inherent racism in Americans that caused it. It's your fault.
On the National Guard when they arrived:
"I think the occupation is complete," said Representative Maxine Waters, a Democrat whose district includes South-Central Los Angeles. "They've got the National Guard and God knows who stationed all over the place. People are being contained with this security, but they are still just as angry. The problems won't just go away."
If memory serves correctly, Korean shop owners in the area made some of those problems go away (see also: 2nd amendment).
Damn these interwebs and their long memories.

…however, the success of Florida’s sports teams do not come without some negative consequences.
Folks, you all remember Congresswoman Corrine Brown from the great state of Florida and her rambling, mispronouncing gradulation of the Florida Gators, her alma mater a few months ago? Well, she’s back. And if Corrine Brown waxing eloquent on another championship-contending Florida team wasn’t enough she is teaming up with fellow Congresswoman and Kobe Bryant fan Maxine Waters to run a little NBA finals smack.
The firewall at work prevented us from watching this while on the clock so we broke no less than 4 state and local traffic regulations in order to get home to watch the equivalent of a planetary alignment in absurdity.
Alas, imagine our shock and dismay when the clip provided below was not even close to the absolute train wreck wished, hoped for, and totally expected. Just some good-natured ribbing and Maxine Waters exhibiting a firmer grasp of the facts with respect to the Lakers than she does for the vast majority of legislation she sponsors.
Exit question: Can we spring a trade? Maxine for Stu Lantz? Us Laker fans would take one for the team (USA).

Does it even really matter?
Well, doggone – it’s so you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting another one of these cases in the “most ethical Congress in history” anymore.
Maxine Waters, get ready for your close-up.
Ms. Waters and her husband have both held financial stakes in the bank. Until recently, her husband was a director. At the same time, Ms. Waters has publicly boosted OneUnited's executives and criticized its government regulators during congressional hearings. Last fall, she helped secure the bank a meeting with Treasury officials.
Her involvement isn't new. Ms. Waters has detailed her financial ties in a series of federal disclosure forms and has been vocal in public in support of the bank. Those ties, however, have received little public attention. Nor is it well known how the influential lawmaker has over the years acted to support the bank and its executives.
Such potential conflicts of interest are more serious as the banking system's crisis has led the government to take an increasingly active role in overseeing financial institutions, including OneUnited. The financial-services committee on which Ms. Waters sits oversees banking issues, and the lawmaker is a potential future chairman.
And here’s that video again. Yep. Whenever we hear people yammer for more regulation or less regulation we’re going to keep rolling this thing out to remind everybody that no matter which way you go, these are the people ultimately calling the shots.
Ladies and gentleman, in a taped encore performance from Capitol Hill…. Maxine Waters, Barney Frank and Franklin Raines!

Obscene...?
Big Oil – Big Government update:
… and introducing Shell Oil’s new CEO… Maxine Waters.
Firmly reasserting itself atop the dung heap of shameless pandering and completely insane ideas, the House jumped into the fray with some suggestions of their own. Head Madam Maxine Waters (D-CA) felt that if privately owned and operated Big Oil could not bring down the price of oil perhaps government could.
Link: sevenload.com
If video fails to launch go here. If that fails, here is the gist: Ol’ SMaxine wants to sociali………………………………… wants the government to take over oil production.
You know, it’s a sad, sad day in American politics when a Leftist like Waters is unable to even articulate the term “nationalize” in its proper context. It makes one wonder just what the hell is going on with our public education system where the language and terminology of socialist policy is not being properly taught.
Update #1: Mongo reminded us in the comments of something we saw but forgot to point out. At the end of Waters' finger-wagging, check out the expression on the gentleman and especially that of the lady to Waters' right. She has this sort of endeared expression that is reserved for batty old aunts... as in, "poor old aunt Maxine... she really has been dealing well with her dementia but sometimes, well sometimes she just kind of loses it and says the wackiest things, bless her little heart."
