Radio KBwD is on the air

A few weeks back, we pretty much laid the current bland and formulaic state of country music at the feet of Ray Charles and specifically his landmark album Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music and as a result we have been feeling guilty about it ever since. Not for being wrong, however, but rather in doing so, it implied that Modern Sounds is somehow an inferior album when it is anything but.


To atone for any potential negative impressions we may have transmitted, we offer up a cut from that album.

9-11-2009 (UPDATED)

6 A.M. We new something was amiss the moment we awoke. The usual frenetic pitch of the homers on the local sports talk radio who jolted us awake every morning was subdued and inquisitive.

There had been an incident at the World Trade Center. A small commuter plane appeared to have crashed into one of the towers. Not much more was known beyond that.

Shower. Head downstairs to turn on the T.V. to witness smoke billowing from one of towers. Hmmmm….. And that’s when the second one hit.

So we never forget, please go here.

And so we never forget the strength, grace and resolve for which this country has been blessed please stick around for a moment.




(UPDATE #1):We understand President Obama has declared Sept. 11 Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance. That’s cool but we’re sticking with plain ol' Patriot Day, thanks.

However, every date on our calendar should remind us of this...

A dramatic walk-off homerun in extra innings gave the Warner-Robbins, GA team the victory over the team from Japan and this year's World Series Little League title. This makes 3 straight championships for the Americans and two straight now for the state of Georgia.

Don't count us among the crowd that views this nationally-televised (in HD, no less) event of 12 yr. olds playing baseball as exploitation. Exploition is the YouTube video of 12 (13?) yr. old Pop Warner football player from SoCal, Cody Paul, being set to a hip-hop tune with questionable lyrics... and knuckleheads actually posting comments on the relative merits of Paul vs. other youth league football players around the country.

This, though. This was just fun.
