Gotcha of the day

.

Wasn't one of Saul Alinsky's rules for radicals making your opponent live up to its own standards? Live by racial and gender quotas, fail by racial and gender quotas.

Civil rights lawyers told The Daily Caller that President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign managers may have violated employment law by hiring an overwhelmingly white office staff for his campaign headquarters in Chicago.

That skewed workforce is starkly visible in an April photo released by Obama’s Chicago office, which shows roughly 100 of the office’s staff.

Only two of the people in the photo, far in the back, are clearly African-American, far below their 13 percent of the national population, and their 33-percent representation in Chicago.

“Were I the general counsel of an employer in Chicago with the workforce in the picture … I would be concerned,” said Charles Shanor, a law professor at Emory University and the former general counsel at the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission.

“The workforce is overwhelmingly made up of young white males [and is] a demographic profile that could raise red flags under both Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act,” he told TheDC.

If asked by managers, “‘Do we run a risk of legal liability?’ I would say ‘Sure,’” if a company’s picture showed only two African-Americans in a staff of 100, said Northeastern University’s Roger Abrams, a left-of-center law professor and former dean of the Rutgers School of Law.

Let the record show we personally care not a lick just how absolutely white bread Obama's campaign staff is but for cryin' out loud, wouldn't a few more blacks or Hispanics pop up just by accident if we're talking statistical averages, here? That campaign staff is whiter than a dry erase board.

And people said the tea party lacked diversity. Cripes, Team O in Chicago makes a Charlie Daniels concert look like an EEO convention.

Oh, well. As we said, we don't care but we just wished some people would practice what they so smugly and condescendingly preach all the time.

The sadly obligatory kids-get-sent-home-from-school-for-wearing-American-flag-shirts-on-Cinco-de-Mayo post (UPDATED)

(please scroll to bottom for update)

By now you've probably heard about the 5 kids who got sent home from high school up in the Bay Area for wearing American flag t-shirts on Cinco de Mayo. Story here.

And from the last paragraph:

The boys will not be suspended and were allowed to return to school Thursday. We spotted one of them when he got to campus -- and, yes, he was sporting an American flag T-shirt.

And home-schooling gets a rap because of what? For the sake of these boys continuing education, a permanent expulsion may have been in their collective best interest.

The article explains that many of the Mexican-American students were "offended" that these 5 students would fly their colors on a "Mexican holiday". It's bad enough these particular students don't know American history, they don't know Mexican history, either. Cinco de Mayo, to our knowledge, is not a holiday that is celebrated in Mexico. And other than wearing goofy sombreros to and getting half-priced Margaritas at Mexican restaurants, it holds no real cultural significance here, either.

But above and beyond the obvious lunacy of this incident, it provides a nice peek inside Arizona's illegal immigration law outrage. There are legitimate concerns over racial profiling, however, one does not have to scratch far beneath the surface to get to the latent anti-Americanism that is hostile to freedom and liberty (two concepts not to be confused with license) and capitalism.

The major players against the law, groups like La Raza, are racialist, if not racist, in nature that bow before the twin gods of diversity and income redistribution. They hold complete antipathy and contempt for American exceptionalism that is rooted not in race but shared cultural values of the rule of law and property rights (what's mine is mine and what's yours is yours). These concepts are not only foreign to them, they are to be struggled against.

Ultimately, this is what's at stake. Not whether some people will be rounded-up illegally or unjustly harrassed but rather whether we allow a culture of lawlessness and 3rd world socialism to further erode our sound, just, equitable and hard fought-for American culture.

Don't allow yourself to be distracted from the big picture. Yes, the potential for abuse of this law, any law for that matter, is real - just ask Congress. However, the larger backdrop is a set of people who through racial guilt, intimidation and victimization are waging a war of "social justice" against those who hold dear the rule of law, property rights, freedom of speech and a belief that this country is not great because of its diversity but rather this country is diverse because of its greatness.

(UPDATE #1): We think we've determinend who it is that should've been suspended.

About 200 Hispanic teens are marching in Morgan Hill yelling "We want respect!" and "Si se puede!" in reaction to a controversy ignited when the Live Oak High School principal effectively sent four students home for wearing T-shirts with American flags on them during Cinco de Mayo.

Mexican-American students felt the students were being disrespectful on the only day they celebrate their heritage while students sporting red, white and blue said it violated their First Amendment rights.

Six police cars and a Morgan Hill motorcycle officer have been cruising alongside the large group as it marches.

The group - mostly high school students - walked out of school this morning after the story of four students who were sent home because they wore American flag T-shirts went viral on TV and online. Many wear red, white and green and two large Mexico flags can be seen at the front of the line.

The students say they want people to know they're proud of their heritage and they believe wearing red, white and blue on Cinco de Mayo is disrespectful.

Need any further proof of the culture war going on here and how the playing field is skewed against believers in American exceptionalism?

Wear a t-shirt with an American flag on it, get sent home. Walk out of school on the tax-payer dime, get a police escort.

And we're sure the irony of people exercising the 1st amendment in order to deny the 1st amendment to others is not lost on you.

Can we get Congress a few rounds?

...and we'll help ourselves to a few of our own while they're at it.

President Barack Obama has only been in office for just over nine months, but he's already hit the links as much as President Bush did in over two years.

CBS' Mark Knoller — an unofficial documentarian and statistician of all things White House-related — wrote on his Twitter feed that, "Today - Obama ties Pres. Bush in the number of rounds of golf played in office: 24.

Took Bush 2 yrs & 10 months."

We don’t begrudge the President one bit for his frequent golf outings. The optimist in us says that if a round of golf clears his head and allows him to make sound(er) policy decisions then so much the better. Our inner cynic, however, is of the belief that his time on the links can potentially forestall anymore of his disastrous policies from actually being implemented. It's a win-win all the way around.

It has also been noted by the press corps that the President had his first female guest out on the links this past Sunday, one Melody Barnes, Obama’s chief domestic policy advisor (our cynic cries out: "See! This explains much".)

That certain groups were questioning when it was that the President was going to turn around the “men only” sign at his hoops and golf outings is another non-story.

We will however take a small degree of pleasure that they are being called on their insufficient devotion to the god of Diversity… a god of unparalleled standing in the liberal-Left pantheon.

Apostates!

Heh-heh

Not so random thought of the day

We were over at a friend’s house in El Cajon a couple of evenings ago and while standing in the driveway we saw a white Ford F150 pickup truck coming up the street. Its two passengers were middle-aged Latinos sporting cowboy hats. The truck, which was blasting Ranchera music pulled into the driveway of a house across the street from where we were standing and which was flying from its eaves… a big-ass American flag.

That, folks, is our idea of diversity.

Different cultures, music forms, food and languages all exist and thrive in this country for a reason. At the figurative end of the day, after all is said and done, it’s America, a nation of liberty, freedom and laws that we all return home to.

P.S. To turn on its head a phrase which we hear constantly and which drives us nuts: We are diverse because we are great.

"Dude, Diversity Happens"

Article here from the front page of today’s fish wrap on the diverse mix of military personnel at the Forward Operating Base Air-Borne in Afghanistan. It was a very nice article and it got us to thinking because everyone knows what a big deal “diversity” is, particularly if one attends college or works in the education or government fields.

Our problem with “diversity” has always been that its treated as a “means” rather than an “end”. This leads people who should know better to say ridiculous stuff like “We (our organization, school, country) are great because of our diversity” or “Our strength is our diversity”….. it makes us cringe because diversity of itself is not a good or bad thing… its not morally quantifiable as .edu-guy would have us all believe. Diversity is just a by-product or the end-state of a country that strives to fulfill and live up to the ideals upon which this country was founded.

Diversity happens when a nation is fashioned out of rule of law not cult of personality. Diversity happens when equality in the eyes of that law is guaranteed by the government of that nation not granted by the same. Diversity happens when the people of that country have a deep and abiding faith in something larger than themselves… that faith being something that is inextricably linked to a generosity of spirit which manifests itself in love and compassion for their fellow man.

People from all over, all walks of life and all races and ethnicities want to be a part of that and that’s why they come to this country. And that’s how diversity happens. And that is something for which to be thankful.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving weekend. Want to thank Mrs. B-Daddy for hosting one of the finest Thanksgiving dinners we can remember. We’re still hurting from shoveling our boilers full of all that goodness on the dinner table.
(This post is dedicated to our friend, "David", a British national who is attempting to become a U.S. citizen and is patiently working his way through the maddening bureaucracy of our government in order to become one).
