If you read the lefty blogs, you will find that Blackwater's real sin is that the company is run by Republicans who contribute to the party. There was clearly a vendetta against this firm.

There is the reason you state but I think the broader overall animus is basically "government contractor" + "Iraq War" = "shameless war profiteer".
