Out: Feminism.... In: Conservative women derangement syndrome

Hey, do you remember when we were told if we voted for McCain it would mean just more of the same old boorish, mysoginistic frat-boy behavior of the Bush years? Well, they were right.

Sarah Palin, Carrie Prejean, Playboy’s 10 conservative women they would like to hate-f**k and now David Letterman cracking wise about the rape of a 14 yr. old.

Feeling Change-y?

Not the daughter that has already been knocked up, shot-gun wedding-ed, and then amicably "divorced" -- or somthin'??

- Oh, How Mongo Longs To Break Out Shank Piston Palin Again in 3 Years. You Betcha'!

um..... no, Mongo. That would be Willow, the 14 yr. old.

But thank you for capably confirming the point of the post.

Ah, got it.

But, but,... Wasn't one underage daughter being "raped" grounds for boyfriend Levi to be shotgunned into the family?

You've raped our daughter. Please, join our family!

- And Baby Makes Three Mongo, (at least until the 2008 presidential election is over and we can end the charade)

The ironic thing is Ms. California and Obama both agree 100% about gay marriage.

Mongo, given your obsession with all things Palin, I'm surprised you didn't know to whom I was referring. The "rape of a 14 yr. old" was not enough of a hint?

And I'm not seeing how joking on national television about the rape of a minor has remotely anything to do with what you are saying.

Again, the fact that you cannot even acknowlege the vile nature of this "humor" re-enforces the point of the post. Nice work - keep it up.

Well, I suppose if it was geared to the 14 year old daughter, I would certainly acknowledge it vile nature. What's more, if I were the subject baseball player, I'd feel like I was at the center of the joke.

But I certainly couldn't leap to that conclusion based on the video link you provided for all to see. He just says "daughter". Now, come to find out several hours later (from DL via L.A. Times blog)...

“We were, as we often do, making jokes about people in the news and we made some jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter, the 18-year-old girl, who is – her name is Bristol, that’s right, and so, then, now they’re upset with me…”

“These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl. I mean, look at my record. It has never happened. I don’t think it’s funny. I would never think it was funny. I wouldn’t put it in a joke…”

“…Governor Palin, if you’re watching, I would like you to consider coming to New York City – you and Todd as my guests, or leave Todd at home – I’d love to have you on the show. It’d be exciting…”

“All right, so there, I hope I’ve cleared part of this up. Am I guilty of poor taste? Yes. Did I suggest that it was okay for her 14-year-old daughter to be having promiscuous sex? No.”

So, who do I believe: The guy that made the joke, or an interpretation of the joke?

Beats me. Could be a Monday Morning Quarterbacking spin put on by the PR department. Could be he's telling the truth, heard that Sarah's daughter attended the ballgame with her, assumed it was the eldest daughter, and made a joke of it.

But had I not seen the BwD reference to a 14 year old in the original post, I would certainly have had no indication that it was referring to anybody but the elder daughter -- and a reasonable assumption at that.

So, to sum up: Joke on rape of 14 year old, bad. Joke on consensual sex with a major leaguer with a woman of majority age, epic.
