Sarah Silverman and some comedian friends of her put together a mocking video touting the formation of a fictional "Black NRA", portions of which you will see in the video below.
AlphoZo Rachel and some buddies of his own put together a devastating critique of the motives and intent behind Silverman's video and the larger issue of how liberals view race with their attempts to keep minorities and particularly blacks from wandering off the reservation.
(video approx 4-1/2 minutes long)
Precisely because of what was said above, we don't think we have any greater respect for a group of people than gay and black conservatives.
Exit question: when does pandering, parochialism and paternalism as practiced by America's left start blurring into bigotry and perhaps even racism?

Memo to Ms. Fluke and the rest of you free-loaders out there who want the rest of us to pay for your sex life: contraception is so unavailable and expensive, Planned Parenthood is totally not putting up billboards like the one pictured here at the well-traveled intersection of Navajo Road and Lake Murray Blvd. in northeast San Diego to prove those very points.
.
Also, in a Friday evening news dump the Obama administration is moving forward with their intended plans to have health insurance providers provide free contraceptive services:
Officials at the Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS), Labor, and the Treasury today took the next step in the Obama administration’s effort to ensure women access to recommended preventive services while respecting religious liberty. The Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking issued today outlines draft proposals to implement the policy announced by President Barack Obama and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on Feb. 10, 2012. This policy will provide women with access to recommended preventive services including contraceptives without cost sharing, while ensuring that non-profit religious organizations are not forced to pay for, provide, or facilitate the provision of any contraceptive service they object to on religious grounds. The Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking issued today gives all Americans the chance to formally comment on ideas for implementing this policy.
Of course, this is totally misleading in that, though religious organizations may not be forced to pay for contraceptive services, the health insurance companies will... and will pass that cost right back onto the consumer in the form of higher premiums. Also, this does nothing to settle the issue that this "compromise" forces religious organizations to offer a full range of contraceptive services against their conscience nor does it solve the conscience problem of religious organizations that are self-insured.
As that billboard ably demonstrates, there is absolutely zero need for the government to get into the business of dictating contraceptive services terms to health insurance policies. Please tell us where is the compelling need? And if there is one, don't you think that in an open and transparent market place, there would be health insurance policies that would offer those services?
This is simply about picking a fight, creating an artificial issue and shamelessly pandering to a naive and dim-witted voting bloc ahead of a presidential election.

Not so random thought of the day
.
So, let's get this straight: the keep-your-laws-off-my body set that went on apparent hiatus during the ObamaCare debate has come back with a vengence to oppose a Virginia bill that would required pre-abortion ultra-sounds with exceptions made for rape*.
The full-throated sound and fury from the left suggested something else was at work here. Was it specifically the ultrasound they were objecting to or was this spirited pushback against the bill a result of the left not wanting the public to ponder what really is the end product of abortion clinics... dead babies?
* Being keep-your-laws-off-my-body types ourselves, it's doubtful we would've voted for this bill.

Your tax dollars at work
.
We can't think of a better summation of the current state of Planned Parenthood than this 8 minute public service "cartoon".
For those of you who don't have the time, stomach or inclination to watch, here's what you and your kids didn't miss: the self-styled Dionysus, the Greek goddess of wine and madness and now mascot of Planned Parenthood being willfully ignorant and deliberately misleading with respect to the fact that condoms are far from being full-proof when it comes to preventing STDs and three times using violence to shut down 1st amendment-protected dissenting view points.
Via Secular Apostate:
"... the stench of misinformed conservatism."
Tax payer-funded agitprop never sounded so clever.
Forgive us our harshness but the Susan G. Komen foundation will not get one red cent from us as long as they are in league with Planned Parenthood.
Exit observation and question: there was quite a bit of Facebook hand-wringing a couple weeks back and accusing Komen of "caving in to political pressure" when the foundation initially susupended donations to Planned Parenthood. What was it then that caused them to retreat from this stance and resume giving to this excrable outfit?

Who says liberal activism is dead?
Earlier this week, we blogged about the de-funding of Planned Parenthood not being in the budget agreement that was passed yesterday by the House of Representatives.
To the liberal-Left: we're proud of you guys. With tax-payer funding of Planned Parenthood being threatened, you all stepped up and showed what really matters to you by increasing donations 500%. 500%!
Those must've been some pretty righteous bake sales in the upper east side and some cracklin' celebrity date auctions in Santa Monica proving all the more why PP don't need no stinking tax dollars.

Another excellent idea
Some read meat to wrap up the week for all our social conservative friends out there.
Time to defund Planned Parenthood and time to defund it now.
We always thought that the debate surrounding whether or not ObamaCare was going to fund abortions was a curious one as Planned Parenthood received approx. 1/3rd of its funding from the U.S. tax-payers.
If budget cuts are going to be across the board, why should Planned Parenthood's government funding be off the table? Republican leadership would be wise in framing this strictly as a budgetary matter rather than a "values" issue.
We're positive the liberal-Left in this country can scrounge around the seat cushions to come up with that missing $360 million to continue to fund one of their favorite pet causes. Picture it: bake sales outside the Grammys and Oscars.
And on a related matter, Rick Santorum (Presidential hopeful?) makes a complete ass of himself in statements regarding abortion and Social Security solvency. Negocious Loucos writing for W.C. Varones has the details, here. Check it out as well as the lively debate in the comment section.

Sarah sez
One in a series that takes a look at some of the zany and madcap things said by Sarah Palin.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
As you probably figured out pretty quickly, that is not Sarah Palin but rather Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) addressing a Planned Parenthood rally last week.
Here's the transcript of what he said in the video:
… The Republicans in Congress claim they’re concerned about the budget balance, but it’s a disguise! It’s not true! It’s a lie! That’s not what they want. They want — they want other people not to be able to have their own opinions. They don’t deserve the freedoms that are in the Constitution! But we’ll give it to them anyway.
For those of you that have been paying attention to the vocabulary and M.O. of statist-authoritarians over the years, what Lautenberg said should really come as no surprise.
When you start fashioning "rights" like housing, jobs and health care out of thin air, you naturally will start conflating those "rights" with real rights like freedom of speech, assembly and religion. And in the bizarro world of the statist-authoritarian, those real rights as guaranteed by the Constitution, as with the made-up "rights", become only cheap political tools to be leveraged in favor of your friends and against your enemies.
In Lautenberg's world, the "right" to health care can be granted or waived just as easily as free speech depending upon his mood at the moment. Hence, his graciousness in "giving" us the rights already guaranteed by the Constitution.
As it is, then, it's not really about rights, Constitutionally-borne or otherwise and it sure as hell isn't about jobs or housing, rather it's all about political power, who wields it and who will benefit or suffer harm from it.
Our sincere thanks to this tool for shedding further light into the mind and philosophical under-pinnings of the statist-authoritarian.

A time-honored BwD tradition just got a little more interesting (UPDATED)

We love rating the Super Bowl ads that run during the big game, though the rating of "totally retarded" might have to be junked for the time being.
The people at Focus on the Family have probably got their money’s worth already for their Tim Tebow/pro-life ad that will air during the Super Bowl as we’ve never seen such reaction to an ad that nobody’s even seen.
Reaction that has spurred a response to this ad which no one has seen by Planned Parenthood and which can be seen below.
Sean James and Al Joyner? The biggest ad in the history of Planned Parenthood and that’s the best they can come up with? We’re avid followers of both the college and pro game and we know not this Sean James dude and our recollection of Al Joyner is a hazy Olympian one from a quarter century ago at that.
Maybe even A and B-listers know Planned Parenthood to be the abortion mill that it is and from which, wish to keep a wide berth.
No matter. We understand the argument of critics of the Tebow ad: on a day that is otherwise fully committed to crass bikini-clad commercialism and good ol’-fashioned wife-beating who wants to be lectured about family values or anything resembling it?
(UPDATE #1): The ad itself is becoming almost immaterial as the reaction to the ad becomes more and more the story. The ubiquitous “coalition of women’s groups” has been calling for CBS to pull the ad stating that the message of the ad they have not yet seen is “hate masquerading as love”.
Ah, yes. As aliens visiting from another planet and witnessing our political discourse will soon find out, tolerance is a one-way street.

Keeping the mills humming Pt. III (UPDATED)

The revelation came during an exchange Sunday morning on ABC's THIS WEEK.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?
PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?
PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.
Contraception? That’s it? Sure thing, Nancy.
Good to see Planned Parenthood will be taking their rightful place at the trough along with everyone else. We wonder, though, if there will be any sort of racial set-asides or preferences with respect to funding. We don’t want all that family planning money going predominantly to white folks. Fortunately for all involved, Planned Parenthood does have some experience in these matters.
UDPATE #1: what if...
H/T: The Liberator Today
"The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness." This seemed to be a reference to the Declaration of Independence, or at least to the principles in that sacred political document.
The moment I heard those words, I immediately noticed -- as did others who quickly commented -- that Obama neglected two crucial things from the most famous line not only in the Declaration of Independence but in the essence of the American founding: 1) He left out the unalienable right to "Life;" and 2) He left out the words "created" and "Creator" -- the God who "endows" that "Right," a right which is a "self-evident" "truth."
When we read the above, originally, we thought it to be parsing a little too finely. But after placing it in the context of what Pelosi said and watching the video we decided that the devil is always in the details, isn't it?

Them thar folks sure seem to throw around that "neo" term quite a bit...
Jason Mattera is undercover at the protest pens at the Democratic National Convention in Denver
Line of this clip is just past the 3 minute mark where Mattera is conversing with a Planned Parenthood supporter who is pointing out an article that is just, “deadly”. Mattera, inquisitively, “Like how deadly? Like abortion deadly?” Classic.

Earmarks. $450 at a time.
If you don’t have time for organizations like Big Brothers/Big Sisters or the like, fear not, there is still a way you can “sponsor” disadvantaged youths, particularly minority ones.
There you have it… when one gets outside of one’s own rigid paradigms, there are numerous avenues out there for good in this world to be done.
