Front page news

WASHINGTON – Who let the dog out?

That's the Washington mystery du jour.

The identity of the first puppy – the one that the Washington press corps has been yelping about for months, the one President Barack Obama has seemed to delight in dropping hints about – leaked out yesterday. This despite White House efforts to delay the news until the big debut planned for Tuesday.

The little guy is a 6-month-old Portuguese water dog given to Obama's daughters as a gift by that Portuguese water dog-lovin' senator himself, Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts.

(italics, ours)

Any further commentary would be somewhat redundant.

There's some irony here with Kennedy, rescue and water.

'Dawg, no,no,no. You got it all wrong. The irony as Mongo pointed out is with Bush. Get it? Bush, water... Katrina.

There was like, lots of water, in New Orleans during Katrina. And there were probably some water dogs there at the same time. And Bush likes dogs, so... you know, Bush and water dogs and New Orleans. See? LMAO
