Observation of the Day

It’s come to our attention that elites really, really hate being called elite. If that’s the case then why the hell do they keep talking like this?

I'm really REALLY wracking my brain trying to figure out just exactly what field or endeavour Maher would be considered an "elite" in??

And if he is an elite, certainly he doesn't hold as much sway over my life (I think I've just doubled my viewing of him by watching your video post) as, say, the oil industry "elite".

That being the case, maybe there is an uber-class of CEO's and other captains of industry in fields such as oil, insurance, finance, etc that should be given the classification of "Super Elite". Those with who have more than just the power of the podium (a power easily quelled by turning the channel), but have the power to reach into your wallets and take more and more for less and less, not trade in equitable ways, leave you in a lurch, poison the environment we live in, and so on down the line.

Mongo,
If all you wrote was the first paragraph, I'd have a good laugh and say, "Spot on!"

If your definition of "elite" though is confined a narrower early-20th century "captain of industry" interpretation then, yes, it would seem that Maher is not an elite.
