A Senate committee on the Environment and Public Works is considering legislation designed to combat global warming. This legislation will put in place a system of caps and credits, similar to what countries in Europe enacted in the wake of adopting the Kyoto protocol, as a mechanism for industries to reduce green-house gas emissions. (The language in the legislation uses "market-driven system" to, we suppose, draw our type in.)

We see, however, a system of caps and indulgences that similar to what ultimately happened in Europe as a bureaucracy subject to graft and corruption and which here stateside, provides cover for Al Gore to continue to live the good life while he's spreading his Gospel.

Awww, who are we kidding? We only posted this as an excuse to get in some great "environmental" shots of Monument Valley and Zion National Park from our roadie in September.

Mongo fond of Zion Canyon. Have strong feeling for upper trail from Grotto to Emerald Pools. - Mongo

Mongo, I took a wrong turn (surprised?) on the way up to the upper pool and had to do some rock scrambling. It was well worth it, though. Good catch on the location of the Zion photo.

Mongo... its funny.. I've kind of joked around about the somewhat amateurish stewardship of the Valley by the local Navajos. Back in September, though, the new mega-visitor center just off the high way was 6 or 7 months from opening. Note to self: be careful what you wish for, or more appropriately, be careful of that which you ridicule.
