Smack of the day

.

Now who was it that was supposed to be the patriarchal, chauvanistic pigs?

Here's Dana Loesch on the liberal-left's leading men, rape and, of course, "context":

No one is debating capitalism, what Moulitsas mistakes as “Occupy points.” The movement has had zero impact, except on crime statistics. At best, it was the shining hope of a manufactured populist unrest to aid Obama in his reelection efforts, but it dissipated into an irrelevant criminal cesspool.

The bottom line is that neither man gave any concern to the number of rape victims in the Occupy movement. Sexual attacks have gone wholly ignored by progressive males. Moulitsas calls the rape accusations (the rapes all sourced above) “bogeymen.” Yes, the “compassionate” progressive tosses women under the bus because acknowledging their assault at the hands of a progressive ideology that takes what it wants — be it capital, property, or sex — harms the stability of their movement. Progressive males have sent a message loud and clear to victimized females in the Occupy movement: we don’t care. They want to win more than they want you to be safe.

If you disagree, ask yourself how many times one of them has condemned the sexual attacks.

If you try to excuse the attacks with the “rogue” excuse, then ask yourself why none of these men reported on how many camps were working to cover up the rapes and prevent women from reporting them to the authorities.

Ask yourself why none of these men have discussed why so-called “safe zones” were established in various camps to protect women from sexual predators which were other Occupiers.

Now ask yourself if these progressive men ignoring this issue really care about the equality they prattle on about whenever they gum in front of a camera.

The answer is, of course, that they don’t.

The statist mindset is that of coersion. If it applies to capital and private property, why shouldn't it also apply to that most private of properties, your body?

Everyone in this movement talks about “fair shares” and “spreading the wealth,” how about spreading the respect for women’s bodies? How about spreading the wealth of consideration? Or did that get downtwinkled at the frat party meeting?

Olbermann and Moulitsas talk a really good game about compassion and equality but at their core they share the same oppressive traits that sparked a revolution, and they’ve gotten lazy about hiding it.

Yep. Kinda like the tea party.

The "No Labels" crowd would also like to have a word

Awwww... Gibbsy doesn't appreciate Olby's uncivil tone.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs advised the liberal commenter Keith Olbermann on Monday to refrain from using comparisons to Nazi Germany after the MSNBC host likened President Obama’s deal on tax cuts to Nazi appeasement.

“Whenever you compare anything to what the Nazis did, if you ever get to that point in your speech, stop, because nothing does, and hopefully, God willing, nothing ever will,” Gibbs told reporters.

Besides being uncivil, it was downright bizarre. Here's Olby from last week:

“I will confess I won’t fight if anyone wants to draw a comparison between what you’ve done with our domestic policies of our day to what Neville Chamberlain did with the domestic policies of his,” says Olbermann.

The reference is to Neville Chamberlain who, as Prime Minister of Great Britain, infamously cut a deal with Hitler (that Hitler subsequently broke to the surprise of nobody except Chamberlain) and proclaimed “peace in our time.”

So it was Neville Chamberlain's tax policies that led to the German invasion of Poland?

After all these years...

Exit question: How far apart on the incivility meter are hostage-takers and Nazis?

They have their niche, we suppose

We're genuinely sorry but we just can't let it go. We'll try our best to make this the last post on this particular subject but such is our bewilderment that we aren't going to make any promises.

Here's Olby from last night comparing the tea party to an industrial solvent.

(if embed no worky, please go here)

The Daily Beast has MSNBC's five best (?) moments from last night at the link above and from which the above was culled.

That was what passed for intelligent political analysis for MSNBC.

To our centrist and left of center readers we have or that may have stumbled across this site, in the spirit of bi-partisan charity, can anyone please explain to us what that was all about last night?

Unprofessional, snarky and sophomoric. It was blatantly apparent last night what sort of audience they were trying to reach.

It's almost as if Keith Olbermann has been banished from the airwaves altogether

If you watched the studio portion of last night's Football Night in America perhaps you were missing a familiar face that had been on the set since 2007. Or perhaps you didn't. Either way, Keith Olbermann is no longer part of that in-studio cast of thousands as his bosses at NBC want him to focus more on his job as the host of Countdown over on MSNBC. Insert wise-crack about needing to focus and his show's anemic ratings, here.

But perhaps there was another reason why Olbermann was dismissed from the show.

Alternate theory #1: Recall the dust-up last year when Rush Limbaugh was reportedly part of an ownership group that was offering to purchase the St. Louis Rams and the subsequent faux outrage firestorm ginned up by the sporting media world and from within the NFL itself to the point where people were dropping any pretext of objectivity and journalistic integrity and were just making up and/or passing along unseemly quotes to attribute to Rush? We can't have that wing-nutty and probably racist rabble-rouser associated with the prim and proper image we have crafted of the NFL.

Is it possible that NBC execs actually tuned into one or two of Olbermann's Countdown episodes and saw what he was dishing out? After all, likening conserva-babe Michelle Malkin to a "mashed-up bag of meat with lip stick" isn't just political polemics but rather the sort of family-values misogyny the NFL/NBC partnership desires for it's viewers.

Alternate theory #2: Or, possibly because Olbermann fires off inane and sophomoric tweets regarding Rush and the imminently possible Koran-burner down in Florida:

‘Rev.’ Terry Jones was classmate of none other than Rush Limbaugh (Cape Central class of ’69). Coincidence?”

None other

Coincidence?

This be the level of professionalism we've come to expect from the host of a show watched by literally hundreds of people around the country.

Yeah, he probably did need to, you know, focus more on Countdown but we're glass half full kind of people and we want to think that NBC/NFL knew they were being completely hypocritical by keeping on this miserable hack and it would be refreshing that, if true, they would come out and admit as much.

Count Keith has himself some math difficulties

Keith Olbermann has some sourcing and counting issues with respect to this past weekend's National Doctor's tea party rally here in San Diego and Nevada senatorial candidate, Sharron Angle.

Fellow SLOB (San Diego Local Order of Bloggers) W.C. Varones has the details, here.

And, no, we cannot see Olby's ratings from our back door.

When you lose MSNBC...

Click here for reaction to the President's address to the nation last night.

Chrissy "Tingles" Matthews: "I don't sense executive command".

Take heart, Chrissy, he is going to appoint yet another czar to oversee clean-up operations which will further muddy the chain of command there in the Gulf.

But we're puzzled by why Matthews seems perplexed. Exactly, who was it that he thought he was voting for? Someone with executive experience?

This is the sort of crap that gets us seriously thinking that someone like General Petraeus would possess the proper timber for the toughest job on the planet. We know nothing of the man's politics and quite frankly, at this point, we don't care.

Which got us to thinking, right now: what if someone ran on the platform of promising to do absolutely nothing for, maybe, their first year in office.

Think about it. 2013: a legislation-free jubilee!

Forces Adrift

We had the misfortune on Monday at the gym to be stuck under a television monitor in the treadmill section that was showing Keith Olbermann’s Countdown. His lead story: Republican obstructionism.

We were attempting to ascertain just exactly what it was that the Republicans were obstructing or more precisely what it was that they have been successful in obstructing? Has there been any actual legislation in the Obama administration era that has not passed? Have we not seen the most hyper-active administration in generations get essentially whatever it has wanted thus far?

Cry us a river, Olbermann. You’ve got a Democrat in the Oval Office and a Democratically-controlled House and Senate and you have the nerve to bitch about obstructionism? Pathetic.

On a somewhat related note: We were having dinner with our friend “Jules” on Sunday night when we got talking about L’Affair Limbaugh, a topic which she informed us was ablaze on the Sunday morning talk shows to which she’s addicted.

Wow. The economy is a mess, we’re plunging head long into even more of the borrow and spend actions that landed us in this spot in the first place and with straight faces we are being told that this somehow represents a new “era of responsibility”. On top of all that, we see evidence that Obama and his Administration are completely over their head in foreign policy because they are either too tired or just plain incompent (or a combination of both). So what is it that they have chosen to devote precious resources towards? Bashing Rush Limaugh?

Kudos to Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod for orchestrating this “distractable moment” from their lofty perch in the White House.

Yep. We’re in good hands.

Remote Controls: Not being operated as intended

The Left has Bill O’Reilly to kick around and "we" have Keith Olbermann. We’d “have” him a lot more if we actually watched him as on the rare occasion we do we find his manner and delivery to be overbearing and too demanding of our attention which we've never had just lying around in spades, historically speaking. And his wacko politics aside, he’s just not very entertaining. Sorry, Olby.

So it puzzles us as to why liberals hate O’Reilly so much. They express a hatred that would suggest they torture themselves by actually watching him. Why? So we can only assume that hip-hop group, East Coast Avengers must be avid viewers… avid viewers and self-flagellants to the point they cannot stand their misery any longer and now want to kill Bill O’Reilly.

Story here. Warning: Audio file of song in all its craptastic glory contained, therein. Oh yeah, and some bad language too.

P.S. Many commenters to linked article apparently need to somehow free-up some viewing time as they are urging-on ECA to do the deed.

Olberman.....zzzzzzzzz.....

Over the holidays, we did a post on the best/worst Christmas/Xmas/Holiday ads from the Presidential candidates. It was one of our favorite posts because it was simply just a lot of fun. We chided some candidates and praised others for their efforts but the use of a single "nickname" for John Edwards caused a couple of friends to respond via email saying they stopped reading the post right then and there because this upcoming election was too important to resort to “snarkiness”.

We were simultaneously bemused and perplexed. We thought it was all in good fun and besides, we hardly thought, “Breckie”, “Silky”, “the Breck Girl” “Opie”, “Lil’ Johnnie”, “He whose ass is firmly planted in one America”…. or whatever it was we called him was particularly invective considering some of the tags that have been hung on members of the armed forces, members of the Bush Administration and members of and pundits representing our current default party of (R)egristration.

Which brings us to the guy on the video below who has been at the fore of this tagging. Apparently, Rachel Ray while shilling for Dunkin’ Donuts was wearing a scarf that was, to some, a little to close in resemblance to the ‘do-rag worn by Yasser Arafat. Threats of boycotting Dunkin’ Donuts got the ad pulled and incurred the wrath of Keith Olberman. Was the boycott threat an overreaction? We haven’t dug too deeply into it because we really don’t have the time or concern but on the surface it did seem like an overreaction but nothing compared to what is seen nightly on Olberman’s Countdown program.

(If little Red riding Lasso isn't working please click, here.)

If he wants to call Republicans “the real terrorists” or liken them to “jihadists” or Michelle Malkin a “fascist”, that’s certainly his right and in fact, we welcome it because the continued usage of these terms further discredits Olby as a serious media type.

There’s a reason why Saturday Night Live does not do parody sketches of Keith Olberman, or if they do no one posts them on YouTube. When one thinks of invectives, there is probably nothing worse in the entertainme…. news industry that one can be tagged than “redundant”.

Because nothing says "professional" like telling the President to "shut the hell up."

We’ll admit to a conditioned cringe when we heard the President explain he gave up golf because of Iraq. Then we heard Olbermann’s excoriating rant regarding the same and… we felt a lot better about what the Prez said.

Despite his clumsy delivery, we totally understand and agree with the President’s sentiments on the matter. We would offer up, though, an alternative response:

“As the Commander-in-Chief during a time of war, I could not in good conscience allow myself to participate in such a frivolous waste of time that is not only environmentally unfriendly but leaves one susceptible to disastrous choices in wardrobe selection, as well. Next question.”
