Story and chart from today’s mullet wrap (chart can be enlarged by clicking on image) on the states now wanting to get in on the gas tax holiday act. As one would expect, California leads the pack with nearly 64 cents on the dollar charged at the pump being in the form of taxes and fees. At $4/gallon that works out to $2.56/gallon x 15 gallons (our tankage capacity) for a grand total of $38.40 to the government every time we fill-up. Good golly – this of course means we have the best roads and virtually no congestion because of all those great roads those tax dollars have financed.
Just more proof-positive that the amount of funding doesn’t necessarily correlate to a quality product.
