Sometime back in the mid-late 80s and when star duet pairings weren’t quite the rage, Rolling Stone magazine called this particular duet “perhaps the most bizarre pairing in pop-culture history” and, indeed, it stood apart – two icons of their respective generations: the older carrying a dry, self-effacing reserve while the younger basked in his groovy, crucifix-bearing androgyny. Whether it was good acting or just the natural vibe, the two appear uncomfortable while conversing… but then they start singing… and they just nail it, putting a beautiful harmonic twist on one of our favorite Christmas carols.
