Quote of the Week

B-Daddy here, and yes, the programming alert said no guest bloggers; but Dean would be all over this if he were in town. Mark Steyn comments on Ann Coulter's recently canceled speech at the University of Ottawa and the generally heavy handed treatment she has been given by Canadian authorities. The university provost had this to say to Coulter before the event, “There is a strong tradition in Canada, including at this university, of restraint, respect and consideration in expressing even provocative and controversial opinions and urge you [sic] to respect that Canadian tradition.” But Coulter never spoke, due to "security" concerns of maintaining order over 2000 protesters. Mark Steyn's quote of the week:

Because, after all, nothing says “restraint” and “respect” and “civility” more than a snarling mob using the threat of violence to shut down those it dislikes—and all for that beloved “Canadian tradition.” Strange that the more Canada congratulates itself on its “tolerance” the less it’s prepared to tolerate.
Read about Canada's amazing descent into left wing dictatorship, at least where free speech is concerned, here.

Showing our tolerance and civility for diversity of opinion.

She also said only backwater universities have a problem with her speaking!

Seriously, though, isn't this getting kind of creepy? It's like watching news reports about gangs of ignorant thugs, whipped up by some dictator, attacking the dictator's enemy.

creepy for sure. The way the media doesn't bat an eye at free speech melting before their eyes...it makes me wonder how many of them are just medicated.
