The thinning blue line

The miserable hack that runs the Justice Department gets some cover.

Arizona's new crackdown on illegal immigration will increase crime in U.S. cities, not reduce it, by driving a wedge between police and immigrant communities, police chiefs from several of the state's and the nation's largest cities said Wednesday.

Arizona's law will intimidate crime victims and witnesses who are illegal immigrants and divert police from investigating more serious crimes, chiefs from Los Angeles, Houston and Philadelphia said before meeting with Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to discuss the measure. Counterparts from Phoenix, Tucson, San Jose and Montgomery County, among others, joined them.

"This is not a law that increases public safety. This is a bill that makes it much harder for us to do our jobs," Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said. "Crime will go up if this becomes law in Arizona or in any other state."

A very political animal, big city police chiefs are. Besides, are we to believe that illegal immigrants cooperated with the police in the first place? And what part of Phoenix is now the kidnapping capital of America and Arizona is a narco-violence/drug-running corridor do not these nit-wits understand?

Memo to big city police chiefs: Depending upon your jurisdiction, you may already have laws similar to that of Arizona and California where cooperation between local, state and federal officials with respect to illegal immigrants is codified. If you are not interested in enforcing the law, find another line of work.

Addendum #1: Forget illegal immigrants. Those tea party types are a dangerous lot. KT has the details on what the police are doing to curb their unruly ways, here.

The vibe we're getting here is that crimes are not actually committed if no one is interested in enforcing the law.

Like a tree falling in the forest if no one is there to hear. How lame.

Sooo...criminals(they are if they are here ILLEGALLY, right?) won't report crime when it happens to them, eh? Is that like the crack dealer that calls the cops because someone ripped off his stash??? Did they EVER report crimes that happened to them??? "Oh mister police man"! The big, bad coyote promised to bring me across the border, get me a job and place to stay. All that he did was get us just over the border and left us...I would like to report him for fraud". Yeah, like that happens!

Interesting comments from law enforcement officers not living in AZ. My wife and I attended a rally held in Tempe Arizona, at the Diablo stadium, to support Arizona's SB 1070 illegal immigration bill. Over the course of three hours, several local law enforcement officers spoke, some of whom were still on the sheriff's department. They spoke of the issues they face and how SB1070 will help them. In fact, over the last two years, they have been "test driving" SB1070 and have noted a 26% reduction in crimes committed by illegal aliens. They have also stated that about 30% of Arizona's population is Hispanic and that SB1070 would not have passed without the support of the Hispanic community. The night's agenda included both black and Hispanic speakers stating how they support this law and how it will help all of them regardless of ethnicity. In fact, the black speaker was adamant about his support and said the rest of the country should use SB1070 as its role model and that will help reduce race baiter's, like Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, ability to keep the races divided by stating that SB1070 is a racial or civil rights issue. It is neither and if you take the time to read the scant 10 pages of this bill you will see it has specific language that prevents the violation of civil rights and insures racial profiling will not be the sole source of stopping someone to check immigration status. All the rhetoric you hear from these other law enforcement pundits is just plain bull and it shows they never read the law or spoke to the Arizona law enforcement people to see how it really works. WE were there and we saw and heard how it works and fully support SB1070. Arizona is to be applauded and supported for leading the fight to get our country back. Texas is next on the list as they are using SB1070, and have asked Senator Spencer, the author of SB1070, to help them craft a similar law for Texas. We need to strongly support the states that have the strength and wisdom to pass these types of laws because they will lead the way to returning the country to the people and removing it from the hands of politicians who care nothing about the country but only want to stay in power.
