Video clip of the day

What a palate cleanser to end the day.

So, Grand Rapids makes Newsweek's list of "America's Dying Cities". Don't tell that to the citizens of that fair Michigan city who for $40,000 do more for their image than anything their Chamber of Commerce could ever hope to accomplish.

Oh, and did we mention it was done in one take.

Perfectly executed post-pattern pass and catch at 4:50. Sweet.

Go to the link above for more on the back story.

It's a little counterintuitive, but a massive crowd ballet that specifically identifies no one turns out to be a surprisingly powerful translation of a impersonal economic projection to a story about individual people.

My uncle was from there. Gerald Ford was from there. It's not a bad place.

The camera work is terrific. Incredibly stable for the back of a car. You can see the setup reflected in the glass at about 2:20.

Harrison, so what your sayin' is "dem's good beebles".

KT, don't quote me on this but the Steady-cam technology, at least in its current state of technology, was first put to use in the movie "Rocky" to film the scene where he is running up the steps of the Philadelphia library.

Sarah, indeed. Made my day.

Actually, if you look at the "making of" video, I do believe they used a 6-wheel ATV, but it was definitely smooth operating.
