The delta smelt gets its "close up"




Awww.... The L.A. Times gives the delta smelt the puff piece worthy of the L.A. Times; blames Fox News.

The lede:
The tiny delta smelt has a big effect on the amount of water sent to 25 million people and 2 million acres of Central Valley farmland. Scientists are trying to save the creature, but politicians look to gut protections.

If by "gut", the L.A. Times means preventing California's Central Valley from turning into a dust bowl then, yes, "gut" would be the appropriate term.
