More than just cleaning out the attic

Sierra Nevada Brewery of Chico, California will be releasing a Trappist-style* ale, the proceeds of which will help reconstruct a monastery at the Abbey of nearby New Clairvaux from stones left by William Randolph Hearst and which originated from a monastery in Spain.

Now if that isn't a mouthful... sit back, grab a cold one and read about it, here.

*Of the 171 Trappist monasteries in the world, only 7 brew beer (six in Belgium and one in the Netherlands) and it is only these 7 that are authorized to brand their beers as authentic Trappist beers.

How are the monks of Saint Joseph Abbey of Covington, LA doing with their fight?

Wow. Nice memory but great question. Why fulminate against unnecessary government intervention into the marketplace and not do any follow up?

I could not find any further information than what I shared back in August/September when the monks were bringing suit against the state.

I'll keep it on my tickler list, though, and check back on it from time to time.
