Time to cut some things out of the diet

Responding to criticism from former Vice President Cheney that President Obama is making the nation more vulnerable to terrorism, the president’s National Security Adviser, Gen. Jim Jones (Ret.), told ABC News in an exclusive interview that actually the reverse is true: President Obama’s greater success with international relations has meant more terrorists put out of commission.

“This type of radical fundamentalism or terrorism is a threat not only to the United States but to the global community,” Jones said. “The world is coming together on this matter now that President Obama has taken the leadership on it and is approaching it in a slightly different way – actually a radically different way – to discuss things with other rulers to enhance the working relationships with law enforcement agencies – both national and international."

Now, Jones couldn’t come up with any numbers because it’s he wasn’t “making a tally sheet saying we are killing more people, capturing more people than they did -- that is not the issue.” Except that it kind of is… he said so himself.

But let’s cut the crap right now. If the Obama defense team thinks the kinder, gentler approach to killing the bad guys is paying dividends then, fine – time will tell.

We’re not ideologues when it comes to capturing, interrogating or killing the bad guys. We’re cold-blooded pragmatists, though, we will say this: Team O needs to shut the hell up and quit responding to every single criticism that is lobbed its way from people in the previous administration.

For an administration in the White House, currently, whose party controls both chambers of Congress, the degree and magnitude by which they whine is pathetic.

How about a simple: “We’re not in the business of responding to criticisms of this nature. We’re in the business of capturing, interrogating or killing the bad guys. Any energy spent responding is energy wasted towards our stated goal.”
