26 year old El Cajon native, Joshua White, took home second place honors and a cool 10 grand at the Thelonius Monk International Jazz Competition at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on Monday.

White played Monk's "Criss-Cross" and Jimmy Van Heusen's ballad "Darn That Dream".

Here's White jamming with some of his mates here in San Diego.

And here's Monk along with the Thelonius Monk quartet performing "Criss Cross" back in 1963.*

*No YouTubage of White performing "Criss Cross" was available.
